WSOC: Huerta Playing Professionally in Mexico

The HCU standout has started the last six matches for Atlas FC

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Former HCU standout Alexa Huerta signed a professional contract to play for Atlas FC in Liga MX Femenil, becoming just the second HCU women's soccer player to go on to play professionally.

Huerta has started the last six matches for Atlas FC as a central midfielder and the team currently stands eighth in the Liga MX Femenil standings. The team is 4-1-1 since Huerta joined the team's starting 11.

During her three seasons with the Huskies, Huerta was a two-time all-Southland Conference performer and netted 12 goals with eight assists in 48 career matches. During the 2024 season, as a junior, Huerta tied for the team lead with 14 points thanks to five goals and four assists.

"I couldn't have done it without my support system found in my family and best friends," said Huerta. "HCU created a space to strengthen my faith and walk with God as I continue to grow as a person. My heart overflows with gratitude in this position I am in."

Huerta joins Bryce Reynolds as Huskies to go on to play professionally with Reynolds playing for Galway WFC in 2022.
