Huskies aim to carry home-court momentum into conference week

HOUSTON - The women's basketball team returns to Sharp Gym on Monday at 6 p.m. for a nonconference game, hosting Concordia (TX). The Huskies are coming off a 100–37 win over LeTourneau, their first home game of the season. HCU shot 56 percent from the field and had four players record career highs, highlighted by strong scoring nights from Grace Booth, Kamryn McLaurin, Veronika Korchagina, and Dasia Hyams.

Through four games, HCU is averaging 73.3 points while shooting 47.3 percent from the floor. Booth leads the team with 15.5 points per game on 65 percent shooting, while Jordan Jackson adds 13.0 points and is shooting 47 percent from three. McLaurin enters Monday at 12.0 points per game and is 18-for-23 at the free-throw line. The Huskies also hold a +2.0 rebounding margin and are averaging 11.3 steals per game.

Concordia arrives after playing at the ETBU Classic, where the Tornados fell 73–65 to Linfield and 82–61 to East Texas Baptist. Last season, Concordia averaged 67.7 points per game and 38.9 percent shooting while forcing nearly 10 steals per contest. The Tornados also averaged over 17 turnovers per game and were out-rebounded by nearly three per outing.

Monday's matchup serves as HCU's final tune-up before Southland Conference play. The Huskies open conference action on Wednesday, Nov. 26, traveling to New Orleans for a 1 p.m. tip.
