TULSA, Okla. — Houston Christian women's basketball put together its most efficient offensive performance of the young season, shooting 57 percent from the field, but a late fourth-quarter run from Tulsa proved decisive as the Huskies fell, 75–67, Thursday evening at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The non-conference matchup tipped off at 6:30 p.m. and saw the Huskies (0–3) erase an early deficit behind a dominant third-quarter surge. After trailing 30–23 at halftime, HCU erupted for 29 points in the third period, connecting on five three-pointers, three from senior guard
Madelyne Davis, who finished with nine points on 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc.
Grace Booth led the Huskies with 17 points and seven rebounds, while
Jordan Jackson recorded a double-double with 13 points, 11 boards, eight assists, and two steals.
HCU's offensive rhythm and ball movement gave the visitors a 52–46 lead entering the final quarter. However, Tulsa (3–0) responded with a 29-point frame, capitalizing on 41 points off turnovers and going 20-for-28 from the free-throw line to regain control and close out the win.
Despite the setback, the Huskies showed strong depth.
Dasia Hyams scored 10 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting, and
Kamryn McLaurin added 10 points off the bench. The team also totaled 28 points in the paint and 12 fast-break points in one of its most complete outings so far.
Houston Christian will look to carry its offensive momentum into its home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 18, when the Huskies host LeTourneau at 6 p.m. at the Sharp Gym.
