SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The volleyball team fell in straight sets (16–25, 18–25, 5–25) to Incarnate Word on Wednesday evening at the McDermott Center. The loss moved HCU to 12–16 overall and 7–8 in Southland Conference play, while UIW improved to 15–12 and 11–4 in conference action.
Senior outside hitter Taylor Bonner-Williams led the Huskies' attack with 10 kills on a .250 hitting percentage, followed by Katy Barger with seven kills and Allana Archie adding five. Madison Hess guided the offense with 24 assists, while Bianca Byerly anchored the back row with 10 digs.
The Huskies started strong in the opening frame, trading points early before UIW pulled away behind a .517 team hitting mark. HCU showed grit in the second set, narrowing the gap to 18–19 before the Cardinals closed on a 6–0 run. UIW dominated the third, limiting HCU to just four kills while hitting .500 as a team.
Despite the result, HCU displayed depth and resilience across its rotation. Joya Euhus contributed four kills, Savanna Stevens added one with a perfect hitting percentage, and Hannah Redrow provided defensive energy at the net.
The Huskies return home to Sharp Gym this Saturday, Nov. 15, for a 1 p.m. rematch against UIW their final match before the Southland Conference Championship in Commerce, Texas.
