HOUSTON — Houston Christian continued its dominant start in Southland Conference play with a decisive 3–0 sweep of Nicholls on Saturday afternoon at Sharp Gym. The Huskies improved to 4–0 in conference action and 9–8 overall, keeping their unbeaten streak alive. After winning 25–18, 25–21, 25–14, Houston Christian extended its streak of conference sweeps following earlier 3–0 victories over East Texas A&M (Sep. 25), Northwestern State (Sep. 27), and McNeese (Oct. 2).
The Huskies set the tone early in the first set, with
Allana Archie leading the attack with 14 kills and
Hannah Redrow adding nine. Houston Christian limited Nicholls to a .152 hitting percentage while generating momentum through timely service aces and strong defensive coverage. In the second set, Houston Christian maintained control, capitalizing on service aces from
Bianca Byerly and
Peyton Fadal, while their balanced attack kept Nicholls off rhythm and allowed the Huskies to take the set 25–21. The third set saw Houston Christian dominate, closing out the match 25–14 behind a combination of smart attacks, blocks, and defensive plays.
Overall, Houston Christian finished with 41 kills and 44 digs, anchored by Archie, Redrow, Byerly, and Fadal.
Kennedy Schramm contributed nine digs and several key kills, while the team's
blocking and serving consistently pressured Nicholls throughout the match. Despite some errors, Houston Christian's focused play and teamwork proved decisive.
The Huskies now turn their attention to next week's home matchups, hosting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. and UT Rio Grande Valley on Oct. 11 at 1 p.m., aiming to continue their strong Southland start and extend their unbeaten streak.
