THIBODAUX, La. – HCU football makes the trek to Guidry Stadium to take on the Nicholls Colonels in Southland Conference action this Saturday with the Huskies aiming to pick up their first road win of the 2025 season at 3:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ while Nicholas Pietrzycki provides audio play-by-play on Patriot Talk 920 AM.
 
The Huskies (2-6, 1-3 SLC) are looking to return to the win column after dropping their last two games, including a 38-14 loss to 19th-ranked Southeastern last weekend. The HCU secondary added three interceptions in the loss, giving the Huskies 13 picks on the year to rank second in the nation. Jaden King returned an interception 50 yards on a pick-six while Tyran Chappell came up with his fourth of the year and Zayteak McGhee returned an interception 39 yards.
 
Redshirt freshman Xai'Shaun Edwards continued his impressive season with 147 all-purpose yards. The running back returned three kickoffs for a total of 95 yards with a long of 44 while also adding 39 yards on the ground and 13 yards receiving. His 975 all-purpose yards rank 16th nationally and lead all freshmen in the FCS.
 
Nicholls (2-6, 2-2 SLC) snapped a six-game losing streak last weekend with a 31-7 home win over McNeese. Sophomore Ean Rodrigue made his first start at quarterback in the win over the Cowboys, completing 12-of-20 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 77 yards and a score. Miequle Brock Jr. led the Nicholls running attack with 104 yards on 17 carries. The Colonel defense had a pair of interceptions and held McNeese to 264 yards of offense.
 
Brock has totaled 692 all-purpose yards this season, ranking sixth in the SLC, with 389 yards on the ground and 270 yards receiving. Junior linebacker Jake Dalmado leads Nicholls and ranks third in the conference with 70 tackles on the year while also recording 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.
 
The Huskies won a thriller in Houston last season, scoring 24 points in the second half for a 24-21 win after trailing 14-0 at halftime.


Following Saturday's road matchup, the Huskies will be back home at Husky Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 8, to host Stephen F. Austin for Homecoming with kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
