HOUSTON – HCU is back home at Sorrels Field this Sunday afternoon for a Southland Conference women's soccer contest against the UIW Cardinals at 1:00 p.m.
HCU (6-6-2, 1-2-2 SLC) played to a 1-1 draw this past Thursday, Oct. 9, in Thibodaux, La. Freshman defender
Katya Alexis scored her first career goal with a header on a corner kick from
Tiana Thompson that brought the score level in the 32
nd minute.
Alexis' goal made her the 11
th HCU player to score at least one goal this season.
Olivia Rossman leads the Huskies with seven points, thanks to two goals and three assists, while
Isabella Dillow sits at six points on three goals.
UIW (4-4-3, 2-1-2 SLC) fell in its last outing, dropping a 1-0 road matchup to UT Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, Oct. 5. The Cardinals are led by a pair of players with three goals this year, freshman Atiana Lara and junior Alex Knutson. Senior Hannah Alexander has played every second in goal and has a save percentage of .770 with a 1.27 goals against average.
UIW won last season's meeting, 2-1, in San Antonio. Rossman scored the Huskies' goal in a game that saw all three goals come in the final 16 minutes of play.
HCU travels to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on Stephen F. Austin next Sunday, Oct. 19, for a 1:00 p.m. start.
