HOUSTON – HCU begins a four-game home stretch this Thursday evening in Sharp Gym when the Huskies host McNeese at 6:00 p.m. in a Southland Conference women's basketball matchup.
HCU (4-9, 1-3 SLC) is looking to snap a four-game skid while McNeese (6-8, 1-2 SLC) heads into the matchup coming off its first conference win of the season. Last season, the two teams splits a pair of games with the home team winning both games.
The Huskies suffered a pair of road losses at SFA and Lamar last week after dropping a home matchup to Northwestern State before the new year.
Erin Maguire led the Huskies with eight points the last time out, at Lamar, and has led the team in scoring seven times this season. The sophomore guard is averaging 10.1 points per game.
The Cowgirls earned a 64-55 road win at East Texas A&M last Saturday to break a four-game losing streak. Sophomore Paris Guillory is leading McNeese with 16.6 ppg over the last five games after missing the team's first nine contests. Senior Mireia Yespes is second on the team with 8.6 ppg while leading the squad with 7.4 rebounds per game.
The Huskies remain at home for a Saturday, Jan. 11, matchup against the UIW Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. before welcoming Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UT Rio Grande Valley to Sharp Gym next week.
