SAN ANTONIO, Texas – HCU makes the long trek from Thibodaux, La. to San Antonio for this Saturday's Southland Conference women's basketball rematch against the UIW Cardinals inside the McDermott Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
The Huskies (5-15, 2-9 SLC) and Cardinals (12-8, 7-4 SLC) met in Sharp Gym on Jan. 11 with the visitors earning a 76-45 win. Freshman
Kendall Beck led HCU with 10 points in that loss, shooting 5-of-7 from the floor. UIW, meanwhile, had four players score in double-figures with Brynn Lusby leading the way off the bench with 15 points.
On Thursday, HCU fell in Thibodaux, La. to the Nicholls Colonels, 76-51. Seniors
Kierra Prim and
Tiffany Tullis scored 12 and 10, respectively, off the bench for the Huskies with Prim pulling down a team-high six boards. The Colonels had a big offensive game, shooting 50 percent (28-of-56) from the field and 46.4 percent (13-of-28) from beyond the arc.
UIW, on the other hand, earned a 77-63 road win over McNeese on Thursday. Junior guard Jorja Elliott finished that win with 17 points to lead the Cardinals while also grabbing eight rebounds. The Cardinals forced 18 McNeese turnovers in the win while committing just 10 themselves while also winning the rebounding battle, 40-34.
Following Saturday's game, the Huskies will be back on their home floor for games against Southeastern and New Orleans on Thursday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 8. Thursday's matchup with SLU will be in Sharp Gym at 6:00 p.m.
