BEAUMONT, Texas – HCU women's basketball closes its first Southland Conference road trip of the season on Saturday looking to end a three-game losing streak when the Huskies take on the Lamar Cardinals inside Neches Arena at 3:00 p.m.
 
The Huskies (4-8, 1-2 SLC) dropped an 82-35 conference matchup at Stephen F. Austin on Thursday with Erin Maguire scoring a team-best nine points. The loss was the third-straight for HCU and second in conference play.
 
Senior Kierra Prim is averaging 7.3 points per game in her first season with the Huskies and has already recorded 24 offensive rebounds in just 11 games. Overall, Prim is averaging 3.4 rebounds per game with nearly two-thirds of those coming on the offensive end.
 
Lamar (7-2, 2-0 SLC) heads into Saturday's game having won five of its last six, including a 69-47 home win over UIW on Thursday. Senior Sabria Dean led the Cardinals with 18 points in the win and added four steals while Jacei Denly and Akasha David scored 14 and 13, respectively. LU shot 49 percent (25-of-51) from the floor in the win.
 
Dean, Davis and Denley are all averaging in double-figures scoring this season with Davis leading the team with 7.0 rpg. As a team, Lamar is fifth in the nation in three-point shooting, connecting on 39.7 percent from behind the arc.
 
HCU returns home to Sharp Gym for its next four games beginning Thursday, Jan. 9, against the McNeese Cowgirls at 6:00 p.m.
