Game Notes

NEW ORLEANS, La. – HCU opens a four-game road stretch this Saturday in Louisiana with a Saturday matinee against New Orleans inside Lakefront Arena with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m. after the Huskies' game originally scheduled for Thursday at Southeastern was moved to Monday.

The Huskies (5-12, 2-6 SLC) snapped a seven-game losing streak last Saturday with a 67-64 win over visiting UT Rio Grande Valley. Senior Tiffany Tullis had a big game off the bench, posting a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, connecting on 6-of-9 shooting and also dishing out three assists. Amy Cotton added a career-best 15 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the floor, and Erin Maguire pitched in with 13 points and five assists.

The Huskies' 67 points in the win over UTRGV marked the team's second-highest offensive output of the season. HCU shot 42.2 percent (27-of-64) last Saturday while also turning the ball over a season-low nine times.

Cotton has become a shot-blocking presence for the Huskies over the last two games, first registering six blocks against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and then two more on Saturday against the Vaqueros. She's now averaging one blocked shot per game in conference play.

New Orleans (1-15, 1-6 SLC) heads into Saturday's matchup having won its first game of the season on the road against East Texas A&M last weekend, 66-62, in overtime. Alexis Calderon led the Privateers with 15 points and was one of four players to score in double-figures. Jayla Kimbrough finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior center Nora Francois leads the team with 13.5 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game but has missed the Privateers' last three contests. Kimbrough is second on the squad in both categories, averaging 11.7 ppg and 5.0 rpg.

UNO won both meetings between the two teams last season with the Huskies having won the previous four games. HCU leads the all-time series, 9-6, and holds a 4-3 record on the road.

HCU will to the other side of Lake Pontchartrain following Saturday's game for a Monday, Jan. 27, matchup with Southeastern at 5:30 p.m. at the University Center.
