WSOC: HCU Takes Three-Match Unbeaten Streak to Austin

The Huskies take on the 14th-ranked Longhorns at Mike A. Myers Stadium

AUSTIN, Texas – HCU, unbeaten over its last three matches after an 0-3 start to the season, faces a tough matchup on Thursday evening when the Huskies head to Mike A. Myers Stadium to face the No. 14 Texas Longhorns in women's soccer action at 7:00 p.m.

The Huskies (1-3-2) played a tough Abilene Christian squad to a 0-0 draw this past Sunday at Sorrels Field with freshman goalkeeper Emmy McKeon making five saves to secure the clean sheet. HCU has played to draws with its last two opponents, tying UTEP by a 1-1 final on Saturday, Aug. 31. UTEP and ACU are a combined 4-2-6 on the season and 3-0-2 against other Southland Conference schools.

Texas (6-0-1) moved up two spots in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 this week after convincing wins over San Diego State and Long Beach State last week. The Longhorns have out-scored opponents by a 19-4 margin this season and are led by senior Lexi Missimo with six goals. Senior Mia Justus has played every minute in goal for Texas and boasts 29 saves on the season for a .879 save percentage.

The Huskies and Longhorns have met just once before, a 2018 matchup in Austin with Texas coming away with a 4-0 win.

HCU comes back home to Sorrels Field on Sunday, Sept. 15, to host Tarleton State at 1:00 p.m. for the first-ever meeting between the Huskies and the Texans.
