HOUSTON – Houston Christian University ends its three-match homestand to open the season when it hosts North American University on Thursday evening at Sorrels Field.

The Huskies dropped their second straight game on Sunday evening, a hard-luck decision where they were blanked by visiting IU-Indianapolis 1-0. The Jaguars got a 28th minute goal which would prove to be the game-winner, then fended off a furious final 25 minutes from HCU to escape with the victory.

HCU outshot IU-Indy 18-10 overall, including 11-5 in the second frame as they peppered the pipes late but to no avail. Two shots by Kaone Kolagano were saved and another by Jireh Oyebamiji sailed just over the top of the crossbar wide just before before the 70th minute.

Ricardo Garcia's penalty kick went wide in the 81st minute and HCU would earn three straight corners before another great look by Oyebamiji clanked off the right post. Kaone Kolagano had one final attempt at the equalizer in the 87th minute but his shot from the middle of the 18-yard box was saved by IUI keeper Mason Taylor.

Jordan Santa Cruz had four saves on the evening for the Huskies. He ranks fourth in the OVC in saves per game early in the year at 3.00 per. Kolagano had four SOG in just 24 minutes of action, and he ranks third in the league in shots per game at 3.00 per as well.

The Huskies will look to end the homestand on a high note as they welcome cross-town foe North American University to Fondren Road. It is the first meeting ever between the Huskies and Stallions, a member of the NAIA and Red River Athletic Conference.

Following the Thursday tilt, the Huskies will embark on a four-match away stretch that begins at Gonzaga University on Sunday night in Spokane, Washington.
