NACOGDOCHES, Texas – HCU beach is set for a mid-week rematch against Stephen F. Austin this Tuesday at the SFA Beach Volleyball Courts at 1:00 p.m.
HCU (6-18, 5-2 SLC) was off this past weekend following a 4-2 showing at the Southland Conference Mid-Season Tournament the weekend prior, securing third place and the No. 3 seed at the SLC Championship Tournament set for Apr. 19-21 in town at Third Coast Volleyball Club.
Paige Palmer and
Audrey Pearce led the Huskies with a 5-1 record against conference opponents while playing as the team's No. 3 pair.
Palmer and Pearce own a 7-4 record as a pair this season while Kirstin Gilmour and
Rachel Heilbrun have posted a 6-6 mark as a duo. Individually, Gilmour leads the Huskies with nine wins, coming at the ones and twos, while
Mary Alper,
Abbey Bufkin, Heilbrun and
Kristen Kleymeyer all have eight.
SFA (8-16) dropped three of four matches this past weekend in Corpus Christi, Texas, falling to UTEP, Texas and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before closing the event with a 4-1 win over UT Martin. No. 1 pair Madison Hall and Katherine Hansen leads the LadyJacks with a 13-7 mark on the season.
HCU and SFA faced off in Youngsville, La. on Mar. 16 with the LadyJacks earning a 3-2 win. The Huskies' points in that dual came from Gilmour/Heilbrun at No. 2 and Palmer/Pearce at No. 4. The Huskies are 5-3 all-time against SFA
The Huskies head to their final tournament of the regular season this coming weekend, facing Texas twice along with No. 4 TCU and No. 11 Hawaii on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 5-6, at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas.
