HOUSTON – The HCU women's basketball team heads into Thursday's Southland Conference game vs. McNeese in a similar boat as the visitors, looking for their first conference win of the season inside Sharp Gym at 6:00 p.m.
 
The Huskies (5-16, 0-10 SLC) suffered a tough 52-50 road loss last Saturday at Nicholls on a pair of free throws in the final second after tying the game at 50-50 with just six seconds left. Seniors N'Denasija Collins and Kennedy Wilson combined for 27 points in the loss while Collins and Yasmin Butler each pulled down 10 rebounds.
 
Collins currently ranks second in the SLC with 9.2 rebounds per game in conference play while her 14.9 points per game rank fifth.
 
McNeese (4-19, 0-10 SLC) is led by junior guard Emilia Tenbrock who is pacing the conference with 18.5 ppg in league play. Through 10 conference games, Tenbrock is shooting 46.7 percent (21-of-45) from three-point range and has made an impressive 44-of-46 (95.7 percent) from the foul line.
 
This past Saturday, the Cowgirls dropped an 80-69 decision to Southeastern in Hammond, La. Sophomore Julia Puente scored a team-high 19 points while Tenbrock and Mireia Yespes each scored 17.
 
HCU has won four of the last six meetings with the Cowgirls, though McNeese won both meetings last season, and owns a 9-13 record all-time.
 
The Huskies will stay at home for their next game, a Saturday, Feb. 10, matchup with the UIW Cardinals at 1:00 p.m.
