HOUSTON – HCU women's basketball welcomes Northwestern State to Sharp Gym this Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. for a Southland Conference matchup.
The Huskies (6-19, 1-13 SLC) and Lady Demons (9-16, 5-9 SLC) last met on Jan. 11 in Natchitoches, La. with NSU pulling out a 63-61 win. The game was tied at 58-58 with 3:39 to play before the Lady Demons were able to get ahead in the final minutes.
Kennedy Wilson led all players with a career-high 24 points in the loss while
N'Denasija Collins added 13 points and
Jo Oly pulled down 10 rebounds. NSU was led by Jenny Ntambwe who went 8-of-10 from the floor for 19 points off the bench.
HCU dropped a 68-42 matchup to visiting Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday, Feb. 22, with Collins scoring a team-high 14 points with nine rebounds. Redshirt freshman
Erin Maguire finished with nine points and a career-best five rebounds and freshman
Tove Caesar went 3-of-6 from behind the arc for nine points.
Northwestern State was off this past Thursday and is in the midst of a four-game losing streak. The Lady Demons' last game was a 53-45 loss at UIW last Saturday, Feb. 17. NSU boasts three players averaging in double-figures with Jiselle Woodson scoring 11.3 points per game, Sharna Ayres standings at 10.7 ppg and Karmelah Dean averaging 10 ppg. Ayres leads the way with 5.3 rebounds per game.
HCU heads to Lake Charles, La. on Thursday, Feb. 29, for a 7:00 p.m. rematch with the McNeese Cowgirls at the Legacy Center.
