STILLWATER, Okla. – On Wednesday evening at Gallagher-Iba Arena, the HCU women's basketball team suffered a 93-39 defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma State Cowgirls.
The game opened with the host Cowgirls (8-1) scoring the game's first 15 points and outscored the Huskies (2-5) 28-4 in the first quarter, using a stifling defense and shooting 73.3 percent (11-of-15) from the field. Oklahoma State continued to extend its lead throughout the course of the game.
Erin Maguire led HCU with eight points while
Jo Oly added seven, connecting on 3-of-6.
Lyric Barr and
Victoria Dixon each scored six while
Tiffany Tullis pulled down a team-high eight rebounds and blocked three shots.
The Huskies finished the game shooting 23.7 percent (14-of-59) from the field. The Cowgirls, meanwhile, shot 50.7 percent (36-of-71) overall and knocked down 52 percent (13-of-25) from behind the arc.
Stailee Heard led all players with 29 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. She ended the night shooting 11-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 7-of-7 from three. OSU out-rebounded the Huskies, 52-28.
The Huskies are back on their home floor next Saturday, Dec. 14, when they host East Texas A&M in Sharp Gym at 1:00 p.m. to begin Southland Conference play.
