STILLWATER, Okla. – The HCU women's basketball team is set to leave the state of Texas for the first time this season, and only time during non-conference play, to take on Oklahoma State inside Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
Wednesday's game will mark the fourth matchup against a Big 12 opponent in the season's first seven games for the Huskies (2-4). HCU has already face TCU, Texas Tech and Houston.
HCU most recently picked up a home win over Southwestern, 62-49, while starting a lineup of five players who had all come off the bench to that point in the season and played just six players throughout the matchup. Freshman
Kendall Beck had a big performance for the Huskies with new career-highs of 23 points, 14 rebounds, three blocked shots, two steals and two assists. Fellow freshman
Madelyne Davis also had a career day, finishing with 15 points and six assists.
Oklahoma State (7-1) opened the season with seven-straight wins before dropping a 57-53 decision to Richmond last Saturday. Junior guard Micah Gray leads the Cowgirls in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game while senior Anna Gret Asi is second at 12.5 ppg. Sophomore Stailee Heard is averaging a team-best eight rebounds per game. The Cowgirls rank eighth nationally in field goal percentage, connecting on 50.4 percent as a team this season.
The Huskies have faced Oklahoma State once previously, a 77-44 Cowgirls win in 2018 in Stillwater.
HCU returns home to Houston for four-straight in Sharp Gym beginning with the Huskies' Southland Conference opener against East Texas A&M on Saturday, Dec. 14.
