LUBBOCK, Texas – On Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. the HCU women's basketball team will play its second Big 12 opponent in three days to open the 2024-25 season when the Huskies take on Texas Tech at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Huskies (0-1) opened the year on Tuesday in Fort Worth against a TCU Horned Frogs team receiving votes in both preseason Top 25 polls, falling by a 78-41 final. HCU out-rebounded TCU by a wide margin, 44-30, in the loss with junior
Jo Oly leading all players with 10 rebounds. Oly finished the night with six points while her 10 rebounds were one shy of her career-high.

Madelyne Davis concluded her collegiate debut with three points, three rebounds and three assists with just one turnover.
Texas Tech (1-0) opened its season against fellow Southland Conference member UIW, downing the Cardinals by a 78-48 final. Junior Adlee Blacklock led the Lady Radiers with 14 points while Jasmine Shavers added 13 and Bailey Maupin finished with 12.
The Lady Raiders shot 43.9 percent (25-of-57) from the floor while forcing UIW into 26 turnovers and holding the Cardinals to just 26.3 percent (10-of-38) shooting. Texas Tech was picked to finish 10
th in the Big 12 preseason poll.
The Huskies are 0-6 all-time against the Lady Raiders with the last meeting coming last season. TTU defeated the Huskies, 79-34, on December 1 last year. The closest contest came during the 2024-15 season when HCU dropped a 60-59 heartbreaker in Lubbock.
HCU will return to Houston for an exhibition matchup against Concordia (TX) on Monday, Nov. 11, evening at 6:00 p.m. inside Sharp Gym to start a stretch of five games in Houston.
