HOUSTON – The HCU women's basketball team continues a stretch with seven of eight games at home on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in Sharp Gym when they host Tarleton State for the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
HCU (1-3) comes into Tuesday's matchup boasting the nation's ninth-best three-point percentage defense. Through four games, the Huskies are holding opponents to just 20.2 percent (20-of-99) from behind the arc. Additionally, HCU has out-rebounded all four opponents this season, including against a TCU team currently ranked 17
th nationally, and hold a rebounding margin of +6.5.
Last time out, the Huskies led for more than 38 minutes while earning a 57-51 home win over Utah Tech.
Erin Maguire finished the evening matching career-highs with 17 points, five rebounds and four assists while
Tiffany Tullis added 12 points and nine rebounds while
Tove Caesar had 10 points. The Huskies out-rebounded the Trailblazers, 47-40, in the win.
Maguire leads the team with eight points per game with
Victoria Dixon scoring 7.3 ppg and Tullis averaging seven ppg. Tullis leads the way with 8.5 rebounds per game while
Jo Oly is averaging 7.3 rpg.
Tarleton State (2-3) last played on Wednesday of last week, falling on the road to fourth-ranked Texas, 83-41. Prior to that game against the Longhorns, the Texans won back-to-back home matchups against Southland Conference opponents. Tarleton defeated New Orleans, 57-48, on Nov. 12 before downing Northwestern State on Nov. 16, 73-56.
Senior Arieona Rosborough leads the Texans with 11.8 ppg and five rpg after transferring in from Mary Hardin-Baylor, scoring 21 points at Arizona in just her second-ever game on a Division I roster. Fellow senior Elise Turrubiates is averaging a team-best 5.8 rpg.
HCU returns to the floor on Sunday, Dec. 1, when the Huskies face the Southwestern Pirates in Sharp Gym at 3:00 p.m.
