HOUSTON – HCU women's basketball earned a 73-39 win over Concordia (TX) on Monday evening inside Sharp Gym in an exhibition matchup that gave hometown fans their first opportunity to see the Huskies on their home floor.

Erin Maguire scored a game-high 15 points, connecting on 6-of-9 from the floor and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Freshman
Madelyne Davis added 10 points for the Huskies, knocking down 4-of-7 from the field and 2-of-4 from deep. Six other players scored between five and eight points for HCU while all 13 Huskies who saw the floor recorded at least one rebound.
HCU held a 41-28 advantage on the boards and forced Concordia into 28 turnovers. As a team, the Huskies shot 46.9 percent (30-of-64) for the evening and limited the visitors to just 27.5 percent (11-of-40). Destiny Mathews and Katelyn Tietjen led the Tornados with 11 points each.
The Huskies connected on their first four shots of the game and jumped out to a quick 9-2 lead. Later in the first quarter, the Tornados cut their deficit back down to seven, 16-9, but consecutive buckets from
Amy Cotton and Davis pushed the HCU lead back to double-figures where it remained for the rest of the quarter. Concordia then hung around in the second quarter and The Huskies held a 36-23 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Huskies came out and scored the first six points and out-scored the visitors 18-9 over the course of 10 minutes. HCU then further extended the lead with a 19-7 fourth quarter.
The Huskies are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 17, across town against Houston at the Fertitta Center at 2:00 p.m.
