NEW ORLEANS, La. – The HCU women's basketball team heads to Louisiana for its next two games, beginning this Thursday with a matchup at Lakefront Arena vs. New Orleans at 6:30 p.m.
The Huskies (5-14, 0-8 SLC) and Privateers (7-12, 4-4 SLC) played in Houston just two weeks ago with UNO pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 57-48 win. HCU junior
Enya Maguire led the Huskies with 13 points off the bench while
Yasmin Butler added 10 points and four blocked shots. UNO was led by Zoe Cooper with a game-high 16 points.
Most recently, HCU fell on the road to UIW, 49-77, with seniors
N'Denasija Collins and
Kennedy Wilson combining for 26 points. UNO, meanwhile, earned a 74-59 home win over McNeese this past Saturday. Junior center Nora Francois scored a career-high 22 off the bench, combining with three other players to account for 70 of the team's 74 points.
Maguire, averaging 7.8 points per game this season, stands at 117 career made three-pointers and needs just one more to move into the top-10 in program history in the category. Her 34 made threes this season are the third most by a player in the Southland Conference. Following Thursday's game, HCU will head to Thibodaux, La. for a rematch with the Nicholls Colonels at Stopher Gym on Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1:00 p.m.
