Game Notes

HOUSTON – The HCU women's basketball team wraps up a three-game homestand this Thursday evening inside Sharp Gym when the Huskies host Southeastern at 6:00 p.m.

HCU (5-12, 0-6 SLC) got a combined 36 points this past Saturday from seniors N'Denasija Collins and Kennedy Wilson but dropped a 65-54 matchup to a Lamar Cardinals team that is tied for second in the league standings. Collins poured in 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and added eight rebounds while Wilson shot 5-of-9 from the floor for her 16 points.

Wilson's 16 points propelled her into 12th on the HCU all-time scoring list, giving her 1,025 career points and putting her just 31 points behind Amanda Johnson for 11th. Collins, meanwhile, is now at 1,264 career points and trails Sherrill Hadrick by just 51 points for seventh in all-time scoring. She's also just seven rebounds behind former teammate Marilyn Nzoiwu on the career rebounds list with 775.

The Lady Lions (10-7, 6-0 SLC) head into Thursday's game on a six-game winning streak and sitting atop the SLC standings. Southeastern defeated Texas A&M-Commerce last Saturday at home, 65-49, with sophomore Jalencia Pierre scoring a game-high 15 points. The Lady Lions are out-scoring opponents by 10.5 points per game in SLC play.

Senior Hailey Giaratano, a second team all-SLC selection last season, is leading SLU with 12.4 ppg this year and boasts the league's best assist/turnover ratio at 1.6. Junior Cheyanne Daniels is second on the team with 10 ppg while Taylor Bell, a junior, is averaging a team-best five rebounds per game while adding 9.4 ppg.

The Huskies travel to San Antonio this Saturday, Jan. 27, for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off inside the McDermott Center vs. a UIW team that has won three of its last four.
