HOUSTON – The HCU women's basketball team returns to Sharp Gym this Thursday evening looking to get back in the win column after dropping the last four games, hosting the New Orleans Privateers at 6:00 p.m. in Southland Conference play.
The Huskies (5-10, 0-4 SLC) fell into an early 8-2 hole but responded with 12-straight points and held a 19-16 lead at the end of the first quarter this past Saturday in a loss at Texas A&M-Commerce. Yasmin Butler pulled down a career-best nine rebounds and added five blocked shots in 20 minutes off the bench.

Kennedy Wilson became the program's 13
th-ever player to reach the 1,000 point milestone on the second of two made free throws early in the fourth quarter, finishing with nine points in the game on Saturday and now stands at exactly 1,000 career points.
The Privateers (5-10, 2-2 SLC) head into Thursday's game coming off a 61-54 home loss to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Saturday. UNO holds SLC wins over Texas A&M-Commerce, at home, and Nicholls, on the road, while also falling to Southeastern at home. Through four conference games, the Privateers are forcing 19.3 turnovers per game, tops in the league.
Senior DeArica Pryor leads UNO with 12.4 points per game this season and is shooting 40.4 percent (19-of-47) from three-point range. In SLC play, sophomore Jayla Kimbrough is averaging a team-best 13 ppg while junior Alexis Calderon is second in the conference with three steals per game.
HCU is 9-4 all-time vs. the Privateers and has won the last four meetings. When the two teams met in Sharp Gym last season, the Huskies earned a 68-59 win with N'Densija Collins and Wilson each scoring 11 points.
The Huskies remain at home this coming Saturday, Jan. 20, to host the Lamar Cardinals at 1:00 p.m.
