NATCHITOCHES, La. – The HCU women's basketball team begins a two-game road trip this Thursday evening inside Northwestern State's Prather Coliseum for a 6:30 p.m. Southland Conference matchup with the Lady Demons.
 
The Huskies (5-8, 0-2 SLC) have had the upper hand in the series recently, winning five of the last six meetings between the two programs with a 7-8 all-time record. Last season saw Northwestern State (5-8, 1-1 SLC) win the matchup in Natchitoches, 59-48, before HCU took the game in Sharp Gym, 69-58.
 
HCU is led by senior N'Denasija Collins who is averaging 14.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. Through two conference games, she is scoring 15.5 ppg while pulling down 11 rpg. Fellow senior Kennedy Wilson is second on the team in scoring with 9.6 ppg and has a team-best 32 assists.
 
This past Saturday, in a loss to Nicholls, Collins put up 23 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season while Wilson added 12 points along with five steals. The Huskies also got eight points off the bench from freshman Tove Caesar.
 
The Lady Demons are led by seniors Jiselle Woodson and Sharna Ayres. Woodson, a guard, is averaging 12.1 ppg and leads the way with 41 assists on the year. Through two SLC games, Woodson ranks third in the SLC with 5.5 assists per game. Ayres, also a guard, is adding 10.6 ppg for the season and is shooting 34.9 percent (30-of-86) from three-point range. Senior Karmelah Dean is averaging team-bests of 14 ppg and 5.5 rpg vs. league competition.
 
Following Thursday's game, the Huskies travel west to Commerce, Texas to face the Lions of Texas A&M-Commerce this Saturday, Jan. 13, at 3:30 p.m.
