HOUSTON – Southland Conference play kicks off this Sunday for the HCU women's soccer team when the Huskies host Nicholls at Sorrels Field at 1:00 p.m. The matchup will be aired live on ESPN+ with Lou Roesch providing play-by-play.
HCU (2-4) closed out the non-conference portion of its 2023 schedule with a 2-0 win across town over Texas Southern last Sunday evening. Sophomore
Adi Radwanski and freshman
Olivia Rossman scored the Huskies' goals in the win. It was Rossman's second goal of the season while Radwanski's was the first of her collegiate career. Rossman is one of two Huskies, along with
Alexa Huerta, leading the team with five points on two goals and one assist.
The Colonels (1-7) play their final non-conference game on Friday, Sep. 15, on the road at Southern before heading over to Houston. Junior Lauren Andre has been the top goal-scoring threat for Nicholls so far, netting three of the team's six goals to date. Two keepers have split time in goal for Nicholls with four starts a piece, combining to average 4.6 saves per game with a save percentage of .493.
The Huskies have won the last 10 meetings with the Colonels, including a 3-0 win at Sorrels Field last season.

Juliana Anchondo all scored for HCU in last year's victory. HCU will make a return trip to Thibodaux, La. on Oct. 15 to face Nicholls on its home field.
