FRISCO, Texas – HCU outfielder Samuel Benjamin and third baseman Reed Chumley have been selected to the All-Southland Conference second team announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Benjamin, a junior from Katy, led HCU with 48 RBI while batting .354 on the season. He tied for the team lead with 11 home runs and ranked second on the team with 36 runs scored, 14 doubles and 111 total bases. Among Southland Conference players, he ranked fourth in average (.354), fourth in slugging percentage (.634), fourth in OPS (1.060), tied for fifth in home runs (11) and seventh in RBI (48). Benjamin's 48 RBI are the most by an HCU player since 2012 when Jake Gonzalez drove in 63 runs. He had hitting streaks of six, seven and eight games this season and recorded 20 multi-hit games in 47 games played.

Chumley, a junior from Cypress, led the SLC in batting average with a .392 mark in 40 games played this season. His .722 slugging percentage and 1.180 OPS also paced the conference while he ranked third in the league with 19 doubles and tied for fifth with 11 home runs. Chumley led the Huskies in runs scored, with 38, while he was second on the team with 36 RBI. He put together hitting streaks of six and seven games during the year and hit safely in all but five of the 21 SLC games he played in. In 40 games played, Chumley racked up 19 multi-hit games and totaled four hits in a game on four different occasions. He was named SLC Hitter of the Week on Apr. 17 after hitting .545 with seven runs scored and six RBI in a three-game series vs. Northwestern State.
