BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar captured game two of the three-game series over the HCU baseball team, 10-3, at Vincent-beck Stadium on Friday evening.
HCU (11-36, 7-15 SLC) was led by third baseman
Reed Chumley who went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBI, two runs, and a walk. Freshman leftfielder
Dylan LaRue went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Baylor Baumann (1-4) took the loss for the Huskies, pitching three innings and allowing five earned runs on five hits with five walks.
The Cardinals (31-21, 12-11 SLC) were led by River Orsak who went 5-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Ryan Snell went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run, and a walk with Kevin Bermudez going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
The Cardinal's Hunter Hesseltine (4-1) earned the win, throwing five innings with one earned run allowed on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
The Huskies got on the board in the top of the fourth inning on a Chumley solo home run to left center field. HCU added two more runs in the top of the eighth inning when Chumley doubled to right center plate

Lamar took an early lead, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning on a Bermudez single up the middle. The Cardinals added another run in the bottom of the third thanks to an Orsak RBI singled. Lamar scored three more in the fourth, added one in the seventh and three more in the eighth.
The three-game series concludes on Saturday, May 20 at 1 p.m. at Vincent-Beck Stadium for game three.
