Dylan LaRue has earned Southland Conference Hitter of the Week honors after helping lead the Huskies' baseball team to a series win over preseason league favorite McNeese.
LaRue reached safely in all three games over the weekend, batting .636 (7-for-11) with a .667 on-base percentage. He went 1-for-2 in the series opener on Friday, a Husky loss, scoring a run and reaching base on a hit by pitch. LaRue then went 2-for-4 in HCU's 4-2 win on Saturday before racking up a career-high four hits in five at-bats in the rubber match on Sunday, a 12-10 Huskies win. He drove in three runs in the win and doubled.
Overall, the series raised his season average from .229 to .277. LaRue has hit safely in the last four games and six of his last seven. His .450 batting average in conference play ranks fifth among the league's players.
The Huskies are scheduled for a non-conference home series vs. UT Rio Grande Valley this week at Husky Field from Thursday, Apr. 6 through Saturday, Apr. 8.
