FRISCO, Texas – HCU junior third baseman
Reed Chumley has been selected Southland Conference hitter of the week after a strong performance that helped lift the HCU baseball team to a conference series win over Northwestern State.
Chumley opened the three-game set vs. the Demons with a 4-for-5 performance with four runs scored and four runs batted in while homering and adding a double. He then added another double while going 2-for-4 in game two, scoring twice with another RBI. For the three-game series he batted .545 (6-for-11) and racked up seven runs scored with six RBI. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch for a .615 on-base percentage.
Chumley and the Huskies are set for a mid-week clash across town against UH at Schroeder Park at 6:30 p.m. before heading to Thibodaux, La. for a three-game conference series vs. Nicholls this weekend.
