BATON ROUGE, La. – HCU beach started the day with a loss to North Florida in the morning before taking a win over Southland Conference foe Nicholls in the afternoon at the LSU Battle on the Bayou.
In the first match of the day, the Huskies (14-15) fell to the North Florida Ospreys by a 5-0 final. The HCU No. 2 pair of
Lindsay Harris and
Kristen Kleymeyer took their match to three sets before falling (25-27, 21-17, 15-11).
HCU then defeated Nicholls (2-25) with a 5-0 sweep and all five matches ending in just two sets. At the No. 1 position,
Maddie Butters and
Alison Stanfill won 21-11, 21-12 while Harris and Kleymeyer earned a 21-13, 21-6 victory at the twos.
Mary Alper and
Paige Palmer took a win at the threes, 22-20, 21-11, while at the No. 4 position,
Abbey Bufkin and
Abbey Reinard won 21-8, 21-10. The Huskies' No. 5 pair,
Gabi Axelrod and
Shelby O'Neal, won their match 21-7, 21-14.
The Huskies close out the regular season on Saturday, Apr. 15, against a pair of ranked opponents with No. 10 Stanford up first at 9:15 a.m. followed by No. 5 LSU at 2:00 p.m.
