CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – HCU women's basketball looks to extend their Southland Conference win streak to three games when they face the top ranked Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders Thursday evening. The game can be watched live on ESPN+ or listened to on HCUHuskies.com with play-by-play from Garrett Jones.
 
HCU (10-12, 5-6 SLC) is coming off back-to-back wins over Northwestern State and Nicholls. N'Denasija Collins was named Southland Conference Player of the Week for her efforts in those contests. She set a new career high with 24-points against the Lady Demons before putting up 20 points against the Colonels.
 
Collins is leading the Huskies in scoring and rebounding averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She has tallied six double-doubles this season, her last coming against the Lady Demons. Julija Vujakovic and Kennedy Wilson trail Collins, averaging 10.5 and 9.6 points respectively. Marilyn Nzoiwu is averaging 6.7 points and 6.7 rebounds this season. Abbey Sutherland and Nzoiwu have combined for 49 blocks this season.
 
HCU and the Islanders (14-8, 9-2 SLC) met in Sharp Gym earlier in the conference schedule. HCU was unable to get their offense going as the Islanders held them to just 40 percent shooting from the field, 25 percent from three, and 37 percent from the foul line. Collins led HCU in that game with 17 points.
 
The Islanders are coming off just their second loss of conference play against the Southeastern Lady Lions. Prior to that loss they rattled off seven consecutive wins. Makinna Serrata and Alecia Westbrook lead the Islanders attack, each averaging 12 points. Westbrook is averaging a double-double with 10.2 rebounds per game.
 
HCU heads to San Antonio on Saturday for their final meeting of the season against the UIW Cardinals.
