SUGAR LAND, TX – HCU fell to Seton Hall 7-4 on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the Sugar Land Classic at Constellation Field.

Samuel Benjamin went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and a run for the Huskies (0-6). Junior first baseman
Parker Edwards went 1-for-4 with a homerun and three RBIs while senior shortstop
Austin Roccaforte also went 1-for-4 with a run. Graduate student righthander
Walker Zander (0-2) took the loss, giving up four runs, four earned, on five hits with three strikeouts in 2.1 innings for HCU. Freshman righthander
Daniel Farrow pitched a shutout inning in relief allowing one hit, two walks, and two strikeouts.
HCU scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning when
Parker Edwards hit a three-run homerun to left field. The Huskies added another run in the bottom of the eighth inning when

Jedier Hernandez went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two walks for the Pirates (2-3). Devin Hack went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Starting pitcher Daniel Frontera (1-1) earned the win allowing three runs, three earned, on four hits, four strikeouts, and a walk in 6.2 innings of work. Closer Joe Cinnella recorded the save with one walk and three strikeouts to end the game.
Seton Hall got things started in the top of the first inning when Jonathan Luders scored on a wild pitch. The Pirates added four runs in the top of the third inning when Hack doubled to right field scoring Luders before Zack Sylvester doubled down the left field line scoring Hack. Status Pokrovsky scored on a past ball before Hernandez sac flied out to right field scoring Sylvester. Seton Hall added one run in the top of the seventh inning on a double to right center by Pat D'Amico scoring Luders. The Pirates rounded out the game with a run in the ninth inning when Hernandez singled to right field scoring D'Amico.
HCU will conclude the 2023 Sugar Land Classic at Constellation field on Sunday, February 26
th, taking on conference opponent Lamar (6-0) in a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m.
