SAN ANTONIO, Texas – HCU women's basketball looks to extend their Southland Conference win streak to four against the UIW Cardinals at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon in the McDermott Center. The game can be viewed live on ESPN plus or listened to live on HCUHuskies.com with play-by-play call from Garrett Jones.

After a sluggish start to the Southland schedule, HCU (11-12, 6-6 SLC) has rattled off three consecutive wins and is looking to make it four. Strong offensive performances from reigning Southland POTW N'Denasija Collins led the Huskies to wins over Northwestern State and Nicholls.

Most recently Collins and Julija Vujakovic combined for 37 points to beat the top ranked Texas A&M-Corpus Islanders.

UIW (9-13, 4-8 SLC) have split their last four Southland matchups. They lost by 22 to Southeastern Louisiana before sneaking past the New Orleans Privateers with a win late and then falling to the Lamar Cardinals on Thursday.

HCU and the Cardinals met in Sharp Gym earlier this season. The Huskies dominated that game and won 71-52. Kennedy Wilson had one of her best offensive showing of the season where she dropped 19 points. Abbey Sutherland finished with 12 points and Vujakovic finished with 17. Marilyn Nzoiwu dominated the glass and pulled in a game high 12 boards.

Following their win over the top ranked Islanders, the Huskies jumped to fifth in the conference standings, pulling within three games of the top spot.

HCU the Lamar Cardinals will face off twice next week. On Thursday evening the two teams will meet in Beaumont before meeting in Sharp Gym on Saturday afternoon.
