WICHITA, Kan. – HCU is in the Sunshine State for the final two non-conference road games of the 2023-24 season, beginning this Monday at Charles Koch Arena against the Wichita State Shockers at 6:00 p.m.
HCU (3-5) won a pair of home games prior to its most recent game, a road loss at Texas Tech. Senior
N'Denasija Collins has enjoyed a strong three-game stretch, averaging 17.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game while shooting 57.5 percent (23-of-40) from the floor. Collins leads the Huskies with 12.6 ppg followed by fellow senior
Kennedy Wilson with 10.8 ppg. Junior
Enya Maguire is adding 8.6 ppg while freshman
Hannah Fields is averaging 4.9 ppg and 3.9 rpg.
Wichita State (4-4) earned a home win over Saint Louis, 78-59, this past Friday after dropping a 64-36 decision at home to Southland Conference member Southeastern last Tuesday. In the win over Saint Louis, senior Tre'Zure Jobe led the Shockers with 24 points and senior Jenia Thompson grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds. Jobe is scoring a team-leading 14.5 ppg.
The Huskies and Shockers have meet twice previously, in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 campaigns. HCU fell, 59-42, in the first meeting in Wichita and then lost, 50-68, the following year.
HCU's final non-conference road game of the season is set for Wednesday, Dec. 6, in Lawrence, Kan. against the Kansas Jayhawks at 6:30 p.m. in Allen Fieldhouse.
