HUNTSVILLE, Texas – HCU will travel north on I-45 this Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off against former Southland Conference rival Sam Houston at Johnson Coliseum.
The Huskies (0-1) dropped their season opener to the Rice Owls on Monday at Tudor Fieldhouse, falling 70-38 while playing without preseason all-conference selection

Kennedy Wilson led the Huskies with 13 points while pulling down five rebounds in the loss. Freshman Hannah Field had eight rebounds and six points in her collegiate debut.
Sam Houston (0-0), beginning its first year as part of Conference USA, will be playing its first game of the season on Saturday. The Bearkats played an exhibition vs. Our Lady of the Lake, a 102-72 win, on Nov. 3. Junior forward Rachael Emmanuel led Sam with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench while junior guard Sydnee Kemp finished with 17 points. Four other Bearkats scored in double-figures.
HCU is 9-11 all-time vs. the Bearkats but the Huskies have lost the last five meetings. The most recent game came on Feb. 3, 2021 in Huntsville with Sam Houston earning an 88-57 win over the Huskies.
Following Saturday's matchup, the Huskies will come home to Sharp Gym for the season's home opener against St. Thomas (TX) on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6:00 p.m.
