HCU returns to Houston to host a pair of Ohio Valley Conference matchups this week. The Huskies will take on Southern Indiana on Thursday night, then host Eastern Illinois on Sunday afternoon.

Due to inclement weather and field conditions, the Thursday night game vs USI is being moved to The Awty International School.

The Huskies are looking to get back in the winning column, following two weeks away from home playing stiff competition. After dropping a pair of matches out west, HCU opened up OVC play last week. The Huskies came home with a hard-fought 3-3 draw at rival Incarnate Word, before giving preseason favorite Liberty all it could handle in a 3-1 defeat in Lynchburg, Virginia this past Sunday afternoon.

D'Alessandro Herrera continues to lead the way for HCU on the offensive side of the pitch. He is now second in the OVC in total goals (5) and total points (13), while placing third in goals per game, points per game and shot accuracy. He is also tied with Ricardo Garcia for fourth in the league with three assists.

Ryan Okerayi is second on the team in goals (3) and points (6). Alex Aitken continues to be at the top of several conference and national leaderboards, as he is 1st in the OVC and 12th in the NCAA in saves per game at 5.00 per, and he ranks 1st/6th in total saves with 50. He is also second in the league in save percentage at .725 on the season.

On Thursday evening, the Huskies take on Southern Indiana for the first time ever. USI (1-8-0 overall / 0-2-0 OVC) lost 6-0 at home to SIU-Edwardsville and 1-0 at Lindenwood to open up league play last week.

The Screaming Eagles are led by graduate midfielder Nick Faddis and junior midfielder Garland Hall, both of whom have a goal and assist on the season and have combined for 15 shots, five on goal. USI has seen three different net-minders this year, with senior Alex Meisner leading the team in starts with five.

Sunday afternoon will have HCU hosting Eastern Illinois in a series the Huskies trail 2-1. The Panthers won the first two meetings, winning 4-0 in both 1983 and 1985. The Huskies won the most recent meeting 6-0 at Sorrels Field last season.

Senior forward Sam Eccles highlights the EIU offense with eight points coming on three goals and two helpers. He has taken 19 shots, with 13 on goal, which ranks him second in the league in SOG per game at 1.44 on the season. He is also leading the league in shot accuracy at .684 through the first nine games.

EIU (2-5-2 / 1-1-0) also uses a trio of goalkeepers, with junior Whelan Joseph in the woodwork for each of the first two conference games to start the season.

The match on Sunday kicks off at 3:30 pm as part of a doubleheader with the HCU women's team, with the ladies hosting Northwestern State in Southland Conference action beginning at 1 pm.
