HOUSTON, TX – HCU caps off their three game homestand to open Southland Conference play with a victory over Texas A&M-Commerce in four sets (25-16, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19). Houston Christian University (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University (HBU), underwent a name change in September 2022.
Junior outside hitter
Sara Arroyo led the way with 13 kills and registered two blocks for the Huskies (11-5, 3-0 SLC). Senior outside hitter
Anna Gadway recorded 12 kills, three blocks, and five digs. Redshirt freshman Grace McLauglin recorded a double-double dishing out 35 assists along with 12 digs, while sophomore setter
Mollee Henicke added 10 assists, two digs, and a kill. Sophomore middle blocker
Audrey Pearce had nine kills, seven blocks, and six digs. Senior middle blocker
Jada Allen had nine kills and two blocks and senior libero
Kaley Feris came up with 24 digs.
Maddy Rashford led the Lions with 18 kills, three digs, and one block. Celeste Vela recorded a double-double with 26 assists and ten digs. Lyric Hebert led defensively with 25 digs.
The Huskies start there three game road trip in Beaumont on Thursday, September 29
th at 6 p.m. taking on the Cardinals of Lamar.
