SAN MARCOS, Texas - HCU returns off its bye week with a new identity, as the school announced Wednesday it is changing its name to "Houston Christian University" from "Houston Baptist University". The Huskies will hit the road for a matchup against FBS and Sun Belt Conference foe Texas State Saturday at 6:02 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium. The Husky Sports Network audio broadcast with Garrett Jones can be heard on HCUHuskies.com and the game will be shown on ESPN+.

HCU sophomore quarterback
Justin Fomby has completed 40-of-75 passes for 635 yards, six touchdowns and an interception. Freshman running back Ismael Mahdi has 46 carries for 263 yards and a touchdown, while adding seven catches for 149 yards and a pair of scores. Junior wide receiver
Karl Reynolds leads the Huskies (1-1) with 11 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown.

Isaiah Cash leads HCU with 22 tackles, while senior linebacker
Brennan Young and junior linebacker
Jalyx Hunt each have 17 and sophomore linebacker
Rodney Dansby has 16. Hunt leads the Huskies with 2.5 sacks and senior safety
Coi Miller has the lone interception on the year.

Layne Hatcher has completed 73-of-118 passes for 705 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions for the Bobcats (1-2). Calvin Hill has rushed 49 times for 246 yards and a touchdown and Ashtyn Hawkins has made 28 catches for 256 yards and four touchdowns.

Sione Tupou leads TXST with 23 tackles and an interception, with Levi Bell totaling 22 tackles and a team-leading 1.5 sacks. Kordell Rogers has 10 tackles and a pair of interceptions.

The Bobcats won the only previous meeting between the two schools, 20-11, on Sept. 2, 2017, in San Marcos.
