SAN ANTONIO, Texas – HBU lost to Texas State in a tough fought match in the season opener Friday afternoon in the McDermott Center. After losing the first two sets, HBU clawed their way to a third set victory before losing in four, 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-20.

Anna Gadway led the way for the Huskies with 11 kills, five digs, and 15 points while junior outside hitter

Freshman newcomers Cassy Drapela and
Hazel Allen took to the court in their first collegiate events. Freshman Drapela from Richmond, Texas provided three points and two digs across two sets. Freshman
Hazel Allen out of Anchorage, Alaska, added eight digs.
Jada Gardner hit .381 and totaled 21 kills for the Bobcats. Janell Fitzgerald had 18 kills and 11 digs and setter Emily DeWalt had 43 assists, two kills, and 14 digs.
The Huskies look to bounce back against Texas Southern tomorrow at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. as the Cardinal Classic continues in San Antonio.
