HOUSTON – Second-seeded and host HBU dropped a 3-1 decision to third-seeded New Orleans on the first day of the Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship Friday at Third Coast Volleyball Club.

In other action, No. 4 Southeastern defeated No. 5 Nicholls, 4-1. Southeastern then fell to top-seeded Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 4-0.
 
HBU will take on Nicholls in the first match Saturday at 11 a.m., then TAMU-CC will face New Orleans at noon. Southeastern will face the loser of HBU-Nicholls at 1 p.m.
