CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The HBU beach volleyball team will play three matches at the Conni & Jay Wise Islander Classic Friday and Saturday at Water's Edge Park.
The Huskies will take on their fourth-straight ranked opponent, when they rematch against No. 17 Arizona Friday at 10:30 a.m. The Huskies were swept by the Wildcats on March 21 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. HBU will then face Arizona Christian at 12:30 p.m. in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
On Saturday, HBU will battle Southland Conference rival Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for the third time this year at 1 p.m. The Islanders have won the previous two meetings, 3-2 in Houston on Feb. 26 and 4-1 last weekend in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Junior
Lauren Huggins and
Alison Stanfill have played the last seven matches at the No. 1 position, while senior
Brennan Miller and junior
Maddie Butters have played at No. 2 over that same stretch. Junior
Lindsay Harris and
Kristen Kleymeyer had played the first 18 matches at No. 3, until an injury kept Harris out of last weekend's action. Head coach
