HBU heads to Lake Charles for three game series against McNeese beginning Friday night

BEAUMONT, Texas – After winning two contests against the Lamar Cardinals early in the season, the Huskies dropped their last game against them in the 2022 season Tuesday night at the LU Softball Complex.

The Cardinals (6-20, 1-8 WAC) put up a six spot in the bottom of the second inning including a leadoff home run from Ancelot to open the inning along with three runs scoring with two outs.

The Huskies (10-16, 0-3 SLC) were kept off of the board until the top of the fifth inning. Riley Martin opened the inning with a single and advanced to second on a Baylee Chandler single. Shelby Echols advanced both runners into scoring position before Jasie Roberts drove in a run on an error by the third baseman.

Lamar tacked on three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 9-1 with the eight run rule in effect.

Sarah Venker got the start and took the loss for HBU while Aaliyah Ruiz started and took the win for the Cardinals. Venker gave up six runs, one earned, on eight hits and a strikeout in 1.2 innings of work. Madison Cotton came in relief and gave up  three earned runs on four hits and two walks over 2.1 innings. Roberts, Echols, Martin, and Chandler each registered hits for the Huskies.
