EDMONTON, Ab – Former Husky men's soccer standout forward
CJ Smith has signed a professional contract with Halifax Wanderers FC of the Canadian Premier League and has been loaned to FC Edmonton.
Smith started all 17 games he appeared in for the Huskies in 2021, his lone season on campus. He had five goals on the season, all coming in the first five contests. He had a two-goal game against Huston-Tillotson on September 10. He played a career high, 100 minutes, and had the game winning assist in a double-overtime win over Chicago State.

Fegan said they are investing in a young Canadian who has an opportunity to get valuable first-team experience immediately in Edmonton. We are looking forward to seeing how he performs this year with a good chance at making the team in the 2023 season.

FC Edmonton finished seventh in the Canadian Premier League standings in 2021 with a record of 6-10-12.
FC Edmonton opens up their season at home on April 10
th against Valcour FC at 2pm MT at Clarke Stadium.
