Game Notes

THIBODAUX, La. – HBU heads back to Louisiana for its next game when the Huskies make the trek to Stopher Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon to face the Nicholls Colonels at 3:00 p.m. Husky fans can listen to all the action with Garrett Jones providing play-by-play on the Husky Sports Network available at HBUHuskies.com.

The Huskies (8-14, 4-5 SLC) split a pair of games on the road last week, first closing out Northwestern State with a 13-0 run to finish the game en route to a 76-69 victory, and then falling at Southeastern, 89-84.

Brycen Long and Khristion Courseault had career-highs scoring for HBU in the loss to the Lions. Long knocked down 7-of-11 from three and finished with 26 points while also setting a new career-high with six steals. He is second on the team in scoring this season, averaging 10.1 points per game. Courseault, meanwhile, set career-bests of 22 points and five rebounds. He was 5-of-9 from three and 8-of-16 from the floor. Courseault is averaging 9.1 ppg in SLC play.

The Huskies and Colonels (17-9, 7-2 SLC) met in Sharp Gym on Jan. 29 with Nicholls earning a 73-61 win. HBU led 34-33 at the half but a big second half run by the Colonels put the game out of reach for the Huskies. Darius Lee led all players with 22 points while Devante Carter led the Colonels with 21. Nicholls overcame shooting 12.5 percent from three by shooting over 60 percent inside the arc while HBU shot just 37.1 percent for the game.

Nicholls is led by senior Ty Gordon who is averaging 19.8 ppg for the season and has attempted 214 three-pointers, making 36.4 percent from beyond the arc. Carter, also a senior, leads the Colonels with 83 assists and 49 steals while Manny Littles paces the team on the boards with 7.6 rebounds per game.

HBU will return to Sharp Gym for the team's next two games, first hosting UIW on Thursday, Feb. 24, followed by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, Feb. 26.
