Game Notes

HAMMOND, La. – The HBU men's basketball team will look to carry the momentum from a second-half comeback win at Northwestern State on Thursday night into Saturday's Southland Conference game against Southeastern inside the University Center at 4:00 p.m. Saturday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Husky fans can listen to all the action with Garrett Jones providing play-by-play on the Husky Sports Network available at HBUHuskies.com.

HBU (8-13, 4-4 SLC) is coming off a Thursday night win at Northwestern State in which the Huskies erased a 15-point second half deficit and held the Demons scoreless for the final 5:23 of the game to leave with the 76-69 victory. The Huskies forced 10 turnovers in that final stretch where they held NSU scoreless with seven turnovers in the final 2:47. The Huskies have no forced 43 turnovers in their last two games, both wins.

The Huskies and Lions (13-12, 5-3 SLC) have met twice already this season, first with SLU winning 90-81 at the SLC Tip-Off Event and then last Saturday when HBU picked up a 93-80 win at home. Three different Huskies have scored career-highs in points against the Lions this season. In the first meeting, Sam Hofman and Khristion Courseault each set new career-bests with 22 and 17 points, respectively. Then, last weekend, Darius Lee poured in 32 points en route to his second SLC Player of the Week honor of the season.

On Thursday, Southeastern bounced back from its loss at HBU to earn a 91-86 home win over McNeese, thanks in large part to a 57-point outburst in the second half. Gus Okafor led the Lions with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting while Keon Clergeot and Jalyn Hinton each added 18. Roscoe Eastmond dished out 11 assists while SLU shot 55 percent from the floor and turned the ball over just eight times.

The Huskies remain on the road for their next game, heading back to Louisiana to face Nicholls in Thibodaux, La. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 3:00 p.m.
