HOUSTON, TX – The Huskies battle back to beat the UIW Cardinals in five sets (25-27, 24-26, 25-14, 25-22, 15-8). HCU split matchups against the Cardinals after losing the first matchup in San Antonio but got redemption to even the conference series.
HCU (19-9, 11-4 SLC) was led by senior middle blocker
Jada Allen who recorded 19 kills, six blocks, and a dig. Senior outside hitter
Anna Gadway had 19 kills, five digs, and four blocks while sophomore outside hitter
Sara Arroyo added 13 kills, five digs, and a block. Sophomore middle blocker
Audrey Pearce recorded eight kills, seven digs, and four blocks and freshman outside hitter Shelby O'Neal recorded seven kills, eight digs, and a block. Redshirt freshman setter
Grace McLaughlin recorded 52 assists, nine digs, and four blocks while freshman setter
Mollee Henicke added six assists and four digs. Junior libero
Kaley Feris and sophomore defensive specialist led the team defensively with 17 digs while sophomore defensive specialist
Tatiana Evans digs to the back line.
UIW (6-19, 5-10 SLC) was led by Annamarie Alvarez with 14 kills, two digs, and three blocks. Taylor Stoops recorded a double-double dishing out 46 assists along with 14 digs. Audrey Patton led the Cardinals defensively with 18 digs while Kade Thomas added three blocks.
The Huskies return to Sharp Gym on Saturday, November 5
th to host the Islanders of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for Senior Day. The game will start at 1:00 p.m.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (11-18, 11-4 SLC) is led by Kyndal Payne with 401 kills, 282 digs, and 44 blocks on the season. Faith Panhans has dished out 882 assists on the year along with 111 digs and 18 blocks. Carissa Barnes leads the Islanders defensively with 530 digs while Tayah Little leads with 66 blocks on the season.
