2022 NIVC Bracket
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – HCU will play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship after receiving a bid for winning the regular season Southland Conference title. The Huskies will play the UT Rio Grande Valley on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. in Edinburg, Texas, at UTRGV Fieldhouse. Houston Christian University (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University (HBU), underwent a name change in September 2022.
HCU (23-10) is led by sophomore outside hitter
Sara Arroyo with 373 kills, 75 digs, and 48 blocks on the season while senior outside hitter
Anna Gadway has recorded 370 kills, 220 digs, and 69 blocks on the year. Senior middle blocker
Jada Allen has 268 kills, 94 blocks, and 30 digs while sophomore middle blocker
Audrey Pearce has 267 kills, 132 blocks, and 110 digs on the season. Freshman outside hitter Shelby O'Neal has recorded 250 kills, 158 digs, and 41 blocks. Redshirt freshman setter
Grace McLaughlin has dished out 1,219 assists along with 343 digs and 40 blocks. The Huskies back line is led by senior libero
Kaley Feris 481 digs averaging 4.01 digs/set while freshman defensive specialist Hazel Allen adds 235 digs and a .946 reception percentage to the defense.
UTRGV (25-6) is led by Sarah Cruz 508 kills, 267 digs, and 63 blocks for the Vaqueros on the year. Luisa Silva Dos Santos has recorded 271 kills, 101 blocks, and 82 digs while Luanna Emiliano has dished out 1,231 assists on the season. Regina Tijerina leads the Vaqueros defensively with 447 digs while Sydney Schoen added 263 digs to the back line.
The Huskies will be making their second-straight appearance in the NIVC, after qualifying last season for the program's first-ever berth in NCAA postseason competition. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, with the winner facing the winner of South Dakota State and Louisiana Saturday at 3 p.m. in Edinburg.
