VB: HCU Wins Dig Pink Game at Home Against Lady Demons

VB: HCU dominates in straight sets against Lady Demons

HOUSTON, TX – The Huskies dominate the Lady Demons of Northwestern State for Dig Pink Game in straight sets (25-11, 25-14, 25-19). HCU won both matchups against the Lady Demons with the set totals being 6-1.

HCU (17-8, 9-3 SLC) was led by junior outside hitter Sara Arroyo recording 11 kills and two blocks. Senior outside hitter Anna Gadway had 10 kills, three blocks, and three digs. Sophomore middle blocker Audrey Pearce recorded a career best seven blocks along with nine kills and four digs.  Redshirt freshman setter Grace McLaughlin dished out 34 assists, seven digs, and one block.  Junior libero Kaley Feris led the team defensively with 14 digs while sophomore defensive specialists' Tatiana Evans and Alexia Jones added seven digs to the back line.

Northwestern (13-10, 6-6 SLC) was led by Breanna Burrell with eight kills while Reaghan Thompson added four kills and two blocks. Amina Attra dished out 13 assists and one dig while Piper Boydstun added eight assists and four digs. Ashlyn Svoboda led the Lady Demons defensively with 11 digs.

The Huskies will return to action at Sharp Gym on Saturday, October 29th at 11 a.m. to take on Lamar. This is the second and final matchup of the Southland Conference regular season between HCU and Lamar. HCU won three straight sets after dropping the opening set in their previous matchup and look to sweep Lamar to stay at the tope of the Southland Conference standings.

Lamar (8-15, 2-10 SLC) are led by Kaitlyn Gil with 294 kills, 241 digs, and 33 blocks on the season. London Hatch leads the team in assists with 862 on the year. Giselle Santini leads the team defensively with 250 digs on the year while Tytiana Johnson adds 74 blocks on the season.
