HOUSTON, TX – The Huskies bounced back from an early deficit to beat New Orleans in four sets (17-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-15).
HCU (15-7, 7-2 SLC) were led by junior outside hitter
Sara Arroyo who recorded 14 kills, three blocks, and two digs. Senior middle blocker
Jada Allen had 13 kills and three blocks. Redshirt freshman setter
Grace McLaughlin recorded a double-double dishing out 44 assists and 13 digs along with three kills. Junior libero
Kaley Feris led the team defensively with 18 digs and two aces. Sophomore
Alexia Jones added 14 digs to the mix while sophomore
Audrey Pearce recorded nine kills and six blocks.
New Orleans (11-10, 5-4 SLC) were led by Sophia Ewalefo's double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. Kristi Gomez added 13 kills and six digs. Claire Turner led the Privateers in assists with 19 while Kamryn Scroggins was right behind Gomez with 17 assists. The Privateers were led defensively by Sheilah Purcell with 17 digs while Mauri Carver recorded four blocks.
The Huskies return to action on Thursday, October 20
th at 6:30 p.m. traveling to take on Nicholls State in Thibodaux, Louisiana.
